Continuing on our journey north today we cruised along the Jersey shore with westerly winds around 20 knots with occasional gusts to 30. Jesse started the day with an early morning run, leaving the Golden Nugget marina in search for a bait and tackle shop with instructions from Ray who has particular fishing expertise. Upon Jesse’s return the remaining crew had Kairos ready to depart for the 81 NM cruise to Sandy Hook.

Captain Peter manned the galley for Texas French toast and sausage jerky, filling Kairos with appetite stimulating aromas while Ray and Jesse trolled with the new tackle and Joe maintained the helm.

Shortly after brunch the fishermen napped while Joe and Peter discussed the variety of carpentry options for the helm overhaul set to begin at the end of the cruise.

There were a couple of more pauses from our cruise to try some more trolling but no catching….

The crew prepared Caterpillar baked potatoes at Ray’s suggestion to harness the heat from the 3208 engine blocks.

Shortly after arrival at Baker’s Marina on the Bay, previously Sous Vide prepared rib eye steaks were grilled to perfection and served with corn for the evening feast.

Joe and Peter took a walk into the quaint town of Sandy Hook to reprovision at the local mart while Jesse and Ray continued the fishing ventures with some surf casting into the mouth of the Shrewsbury river.

Looks like you are having a great trip. The boat looks beautiful!
